40 C2 Standards The Diagnostic-Prescriptive System The diagnostic-prescriptive system is based on the results of the Pre-and Post-Tests found inside the teacher kit, Math Capsules . The number of each problem on the Pre-Test matches the number of the objective being tested. After teachers administer and correct these tests, the results can be recorded on an individual record sheet or class record sheet. Teachers mark an X in the box under the number of each problem missed on the Pre-Test. The completed record sheet can be used to identify unmastered objectives within each level and prescribe the matching pages for each objective. Level C2: Fractions, Decimals & Percent teaches objectives 11–30, and 45 in Level C. The objectives and teaching pages to match each objective are listed below from Moving with Math and Skill Builder Using Action Math . Fraction Objectives C-11 Write fractions from shaded regions, number lines and printed words. Identify numerators, denominators, proper fractions, improper fractions and mixed numbers. C-12 Find equivalent fractions in higher or lower terms. Find the greatest common factor. Write ratios and solve a proportion using models. C-13 Compare two fractions with like or unlike denominators and order five fractions with like or unlike denominators. Estimate fractions to the nearest whole number with models and using patterns. Find the least common multiple or lowest common denominator. C-14 Interchange mixed numbers and improper fractions. C-15 Add and subtract fractions with like denominators with simplifying and/or regrouping. C-16 Add and subtract mixed numbers with like denominators with regrouping and/or simplifying. Estimate a sum or difference to the nearest whole number. C-17 Add and subtract two fractions with unlike denominators. C-18 Add and subtract two mixed numbers with unlike denominators. C-19 Multiply two fractions or a fraction by a whole number. Use mental math to multiply fractions. Uses the order property to multiply fractions and estimate a fractional part of a number. C-20 Estimate and divide fractions by fractions or whole numbers. Write the reciprocal of a number. C-45 Use a 5-step plan to estimate and solve 1- or 2-step word problems with whole numbers, fractions, decimals. Select the strategy or method and justify the solution. Translate phrases and word problems to algebraic expressions or open-number sentences. Decimals/Percent Objectives C-21 Write or identify decimals from a model, picture or on a number line. C-22 Read and write decimals up to thousandths. C-23 Identify place value in a decimal up to ten thousandths. C-24 Compare and order decimals up to hundredths. Find the pattern for equivalent decimals. C-25 Interchange fractions having denominators of 10 or 100 with decimals. C-26 Add and subtract decimals, including money, in vertical or horizontal format. C-27 Multiply money and 2-place decimals. C-28 Divide money by a whole number. Divide 2-place decimals by whole numbers or by 1-place decimals. C-29 Identify the percent of a shaded region divided into 100 squares. C-30 Interchange 2-place decimals with fractions having a denominator of 100 and with whole number percents. C-45 Use a 5-step plan to estimate and solve 1- or 2-step word problems with whole numbers, fractions, decimals. Select the strategy or method and justify the solution.
