B3 Standards 37 The Diagnostic-Prescriptive System The diagnostic-prescriptive system is based on the results of the Pre-and Post-Tests found inside the teacher kit, Math Capsules . The number of each problem on the Pre-Test matches the number of the objective being tested. After teachers administer and correct these tests, the results can be recorded on an individual record sheet or class record sheet. Teachers mark an X in the box under the number of each problem missed on the Pre-Test. The completed record sheet can be used to identify unmastered objectives within each level and prescribe the matching pages for each objective. Level B3: Fractions, Geometry & Measurement teaches objectives 30–47 and objective 50 in Level B. The objectives and prescription of teaching pages are listed in this table. Fraction Objectives B-30 Write the fraction for the shaded part of a whole, numerator or denominator up to 20. B-31 Write the fraction representing a part of a set. B-32 Compare and order fractions. B-33 Add or subtract proper fractions with like denominators and simplify. B-34 Add or subtract mixed numbers with like denominators and simplify. Geometry Objectives B-35 Identify plane figures: point, line, line segment, ray and angle. B-36 Identify lines as horizontal, vertical or diagonal. B-37 Identify intersecting, parallel or perpendicular lines. B-38 Identify a line of symmetry. B-39 Identify congruent figures. B-40 Identify solid figures: cube, cone, sphere, cylinder, pyramid, rectangular solid. Measurement Objectives B-41 Tell time to 15 minutes and 5-minute intervals. B-42 Reads a thermometer, scale, or calendar. B-43 Measure to the nearest ½ inch or centimeter. B-44 Know equivalencies, estimate, convert and solve problems using customary units of length, weight and capacity. B-45 Know equivalencies, estimate, convert and solve problems using metric units of length, weight and capacity. B-46 Estimate and solve problems with perimeter and area. B-47 Make change for $10.00 bill by adding, subtracting or multiplying with money. Estimate solutions. B-50 Read and interpret a pictograph, bar graph, table, or points on a grid. Determine possible outcomes in a given situation.
