11 Page 1 The Diagnostic-Prescriptive System The diagnostic-prescriptive system is based on the results of the Pre-and Post-Tests found inside the teacher kit, Math Capsules . The number of each problem on the Pre-Test matches the number of the objective being tested. After teachers administer and correct these tests, the results can be recorded on an individual record sheet or class record sheet. Teachers mark an X in the box under the number of each problem missed on the Pre-Test. The completed record sheet can be used to identify unmastered objectives within each level and prescribe the matching pages for each objective. Level B2: Multiplication & Division teaches objectives 20–29, 48 and 49 in Level B. The objectives and teaching pages are listed in this table. Multiplication Objectives B-20 Know multiplication facts with factors 0-9. Relate multiplication to addition. Uses number properties: zero, one, commutative. B-21 Multiply a 2- or 3-digit number by a 1-digit number, can be across zero. Includes mental math and estimation. B-22 Multiply a 1- or 2-digit number by 10 or multiples of 10. Includes mental math and estimation. B-23 Multiply a 2-digit number by a 2-digit number with regrouping. B-24 Knows the meaning of “product” and the “x” sign in multiplication. B-48 Solve a word problem with multiplication of whole numbers. Division Objectives B-25 Know division facts with divisors 0-9. Relate division to multiplication as opposites and finds missing factors. B-26 Divide a 2-digit number by a 1-digit number, can have remainders or regrouping in the dividend. B-27 Divide up to a 4-digit number by a 1-digit number, can have remainders or regrouping in the dividend. B-28 Divide a 3-digit or 4-digit number by a 1-digit number, can have remainders or regrouping in the dividend and zeros in the quotient. B-29 Knows the meaning of “quotient” and the “ ÷” sign. B-49 Solve a word problem with division of whole numbers. B-50 Read and interpret a pictograph, bar graph, table, or points on a grid. Determine possible outcomes in a given situation.
