Then ask the students to change positions (1 at the door and 3 at thewindow) and come together at the desk. Record the facts. (3+ 1= 4, and 1+ 3= 4) How are these twoproblems alike? (they bothput together a 3 and a 1 andhave a sumof 4) How are these twoproblems different? (one problem starts with 3 and adds 1, the other problem startswith 1 and adds 3) Howdo the answers in these 2 problems compare? (answers are the same) Repeatwith several other examples.
